Jordan Coble

Councillor, Westbank First Nation

Jordan was born and raised in the heart of the Okanagan and is dedicated to working for his Nation, community and people. Through the celebration of living history, Jordan strives to provide transformative experiences empowering the voice of the Okanagan/syilx people to be heard and understood as valuable to all walks of life in relation to past, present and future generations. Jordan ensures the application and interpretation of Indigenous knowledge is valued in a respectful manner to create and  foster healthier relationships to serve as the stepping-stones in the reconciliation process. A more comprehensive understanding of the historical interconnectedness between people and place is essential in moving forward together and is rooted in Okanagan pedagogy.

Jordan was elected to Westbank First Nation Council September 2019. Prior to his appointment to Council, Jordan worked as the Cultural and Operations Administrator for the Sncewips Heritage Museum of Westbank First Nation serving on various boards including the British Columbia Museums Association to ensure the living history of Indigenous people is understood and recognized throughout cultural institutions locally within the Okanagan Region as well as provincially. Jordan earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from UBCO in Creative and Critical Studies. Jordan also graduated from the Syilx Language House in June 2019 and is recognized as an advanced-intermediate language speaker.

Jordan has contributed greatly to the arts world through curation of various exhibits as well as within the performing arts where he emphasizes authentic representation and celebrating history incorporating humour and honesty. Jordan is proud to represent his community and strives to empower others to be involved and claim our rightful place in recognizing our contributions as hosts within our respective territories.
