Bill Youngs, PhD
Professor of History, EWU
Bill Youngs studied history at Harvard (B.A. 1963) and Berkeley (Ph.D. 1970); he has taught American history at Eastern Washington University during the past 50 years (1972 to the present).
Bill has published five books including The Fair and the Falls: Spokane’s Expo ’74 — Transforming an American Environment. His environmentally-themed courses include “The History of National Parks.” This has been an online course long before Covid, allowing him to teach the class from parks throughout the United States and in fourteen other countries around the world.
During much of the two weeks before the River Ethics Conference, he will be teaching this class online from campgrounds in Yellowstone National Park — an ideal setting for thinking about environmental issues!
